The process to Apply for Ration Card

  • The first step is to get the ration card application form. The form is available at Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affair Office in Jammu and Kashmir. You can visit the nearest office to seek the form.
  • Fill in the details in the form and this is required to move ahead with the application procedure. Verify the details that you have filled and also ensure that you are using a ball point pen to enter these details.
  • Attach the documents requested to the form and submit these documents back to the officer. He might ask you for original documents as well so as to verify them during submission.
  • Once submitted, you will receive an acknowledgement slip which carries application number as well. You need to keep this safe until you receive your ration card.

What happens after submission of Offline Form?

In the first step itself, the documents are verified and they are matched against the government records. The documents are also checked with the form and once this is clear, the next step is to carry out physical verification. In this step, most likely, an officer will visit you at your home to verify the details. Once this is done, the ration card will be issued to you and it will be mailed to you with the help of Indian Postal Services. The whole procedure takes 2 to 3 weeks after submission of the form.
