India is the world’s largest democracy and there are lots of political parties in the country. Some of these parties are in existence since the independence of the country while some of the new parties created in the recent years. In India, these political parties are working with a similar to win the election and make government in any state or centre.

In India, there are three kinds of political parties including national parties, state parties and unrecognised parties. If any party is winning 2% of the total LokSabha seats from three or more states in the country, it will be considered as a national political party in the country. To become a state political party, the party will need to win minimum 3% of total seats in Legislative Assembly. In India, there are 7 national parties and 49 state parties.

10. JDU

JDU stands for JanataDal-United party has a political presence in the states like Bihar and Jharkhand. Janata Dal-United party is a result of merging of the parties like Janata Dal, Loksatta party and Samta party in the year 2003. At the present time, JDU is alliance with RJD in Bihar. This party was founded by Nitish Kumar and he is current President of the party. At the present time, they have a total 70 out of 243 seats in Bihar and 1 seat in Nagaland. 9. TMC

All India Trinamool Congress is Indian political party having roots in the Indian state of West Bengal. This political party was founded on 1st January 1998 and this party is founded by Mamata Banerjee who is current CM of West Bengal. Before the year 2009, it was a 6th largest party in Lok Sabha and they had total 19 seats at that time. Currently, they have 34 seats in Lok Sabha. Rashtriya Janata Dal is Indian political party that is based in Northern state of Bihar. This political party was founded by Lalu Prasad Yadav in the year 1997. This party was recognised as a national level party in the year 2008 on the basis of its performance in the elections of North Eastern states.Rashtriya Janata Dal party was derecognised as a national party on July 30, 2010. AAP stands for Aam Aadmi Party that is Indian political party founded on 26th November 2012. This political party came into existence after the differences between Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal after “India against corruption” movement in the country. This political party was founded by Arvind Kejriwal who is the current leader of the party and CM of DELHi. In the elections, they made debut in 2013 where they won 28 out of 70 seats in Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections and became a second largest party at that time. After that, they got support of Indian National Congress party and formed the government. After that, they did not get the support of partying on Jan Lokpal bill and CM of Delhi resigned after 49 days. In 2015, they got 67 out of 70 seats in Delhi Legislative Assembly Elections and Bhartiya Janta Party won rest 3 seats. Currently, Aam Aadmi Party is ruling party in National Capital Territory of Delhi.

6. CPM

CPM is Communist Party of India (Marxist) is a communist party in the country that was founded on 7th November 1964. This political party was formed at the time of 7th Congress in Calcutta. Current LokSabha leader of the party is P. Karunakaran and Rajya Sabha leader is T.K. Rangarajan. Currently, they have 58 seats in Kerala legislative assembly and 26 seats in West Bengal Legislative Assembly. They also have 16 seats in Tripura legislative assembly and one seat in assembly of the states of Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Raja.In the year 1964, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was separated from this Communist Party.At the present time, they have total 19 seats in Legislative Assembly of Kerala and one seat in Legislative Assembly of West Bengal. The samajwadi Party is a political party in the country that was founded on 4th October 1992. This political party is considered as the largest state party in the country and it is based in Uttar Pradesh state. Samajwadi Party founded by Mulayam Singh Yadav and he is the current chairperson of the party. President of this party is Akhilesh Yadav at the present time. Today, they have total 272 seats and Lok Sabha and 71 seats in Rajya Sabha. They have Government and total 19 states and union territories in the country. In the elections of 2014, it was the biggest victory of this political party and currently, and they are ruling the central government of country.
