Old Age Pension Karnataka – How To Apply, Eligibility, Status

State Government of Karnataka with the assistance of Central government provides Indira Gandhi National old age pension scheme for the senior citizens of the state. This scheme provides a monthly pension of Rs 400 to eligible citizens. Sandhya Suraksha Scheme is another pension scheme funded by the state government for weavers, labourers, marginal farmers, fishermen, small farmers and labourers from the unorganised sector. Under Sandhya Suraksha scheme, a monthly pension of Rs 400 is provided to the beneficiaries. Furthermore, medical assistance through NGOs and concessional bus passes for KSRTC buses are also provided.

Eligibility criteria for Indira Gandhi old age pension scheme

  • The age of the applicant should be 65 years or above.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka
  • The combined annual income of the beneficiary and his/her spouse should not be more than Rs 20,000.

Eligibility criteria for Sandhya Suraksha Scheme

  • The age of the applicant should be 65 years or above
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of Karnataka
  • The total annual income of both the pensioner and his/her spouse should not exceed Rs 20,000
  • The total bank deposit of the pensioner and his/her spouse should not be more than Rs 10,000.
  • The income of adult children will not be considered for calculating the income of the applicant if the income is declared by the proposed beneficiary.

The documents required for applying for the Indira Gandhi old age pension scheme are as follows

  • Residence certificate

For Sandhya Suraksha Scheme, the following documents are required.

  • Birth certificate/Identity proof having date of birth
  • Residence certificate
  • Income certificate of the proposed pensioner
  • Bank passbook
  • Details of savings and deposits
  • Occupational certificate signed by the Tehsildar of the taluk in case of Sandhya Suraksha Scheme.

Process of applying

Visit the official website of the government of Karnataka https://www.karnataka.gov.in. Click on “Download Applications” and select “Application for Pension” from the list. Print the application form. Fill the application form correctly and submit it along with all the required documents at gram panchayat office or municipality.

How to check status of application online

In case of Indira Gandhi National pension scheme, the applicant needs to visit http://www.nsap.nic.in/ReportsMore.html and click on “Applications Tracker”. In the new window, the applicant needs to write the application number in the given box and click on search symbol to get the status.

In case of Sandhya Suraksha scheme, the applicant needs to visit https://nadakacheri.karnataka.gov.in/ajsk and click on “Application Status” under Important Links. In the new page, the applicant needs to select application type, enter the application number and click on get status button.
