How to Check Train Seat Availability via IRCTC.CO.IN New Website?

Do you remember logging in to IRCTC website just to check the seat availability status? Did you also find it irrelevant and irritating? Well, you are not alone but the fact is that this issue has been resolved as IRCTC came up with a new process.

Off lately, IRCTC launched a new portal and this is after taking feedback from thousands of people. So in a way, you can say that IRCTC Next Gen Portal is a people friendly portal. This new portal lets you check the train seat availability status without logging in and here is how you can do it.

How to Check Train Seat Availability via IRCTC.CO.IN New Website?

• Since you are using IRCTC website to check the seat availability status, visit the IRCTC website. The link to the website is irctc.co.in and we are sure that you are aware of this link. You will now land on the next gen portal of IRCTC.
• In the section for Book You Ticket, enter the journey details. So, the basic details that you will need to enter is the date of journey, preferred class of travel, source station & destination station. Click on Find Trains Button after entering the data.

• The list of trains will be displayed on the next page and from this list, shortlist the train that you wish to travel in. Now, to check the status of the seat availability, you just need to click on Check Availability & Fare. Once you do that, the status of the seat availability will be displayed.
• If the ticket has a waitlist then a button for CNF Probability will be displayed. If you click on this button then the portal will display the probability of ticket getting confirmed but you would have to login to the portal to check the CNF Probability.

This was all about checking the seat availability via IRCTC portal. You can also change the quota to Tatkal, Premium Tatkal, Ladies or any other quota while checking the seat availability status. Remember that you don’t need to login to the IRCTC portal to check the seat availability status but you would have to login to the portal to book the ticket via irctcportal.
