PPS Full Form in Police is provincial police service. The Uttar Pradesh Police force is a Tier 1 state civil service agency. It also serves as the state’s entry point for the Indian Police Service.[5]

To keep the peace, enforce the law, prevent and investigate crime, PPS personnel serve in a variety of capacities at the circle, region, range, zonal, and state levels.

The Uttar Pradesh Government Home and Confidential Department acts as the service’s cadre controlling authority. The PPS is one of the three services that feed into the All India Services; the others are Provincial Civil Service (PCS) & the Provincial Forest Service (PFS).

Responsibilities of provincial police service officer

To carry out responsibilities based on border duties, including public peace and order maintenance, crime prevention, inquiry, and detection, intelligence collection, VIP security, the fight against terrorism border policing, railroad policing, combating smuggling, trafficking in drugs, economic offenses, public corruption, emergency management, implementation of socio-economic legislation, environmental laws protection, etc.

Taking charge of subordinate agencies such as the State Intelligence Bureau, the State Vigilance Organization, the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigations Department (CB-CID), etc

Under the direction of more senior police officials, they lead and command the UP-PAC, the UP-STF, etc.

Maintain strong communication and cooperation with law enforcement officials from other state government agencies.

To serve as an example to the rest of the force by leading with integrity, honor, and a deep desire to protect the public

Make an effort to instill in the law enforcement forces they oversee the ideals and standards that will allow them to better serve the public.
