Tamil Nadu (TN) Scholarship List 2023: Eligibility, Application, Process

Tamil Nadu is considered as one of the most literate states in India with almost 100% gross enrolment ratio in both upper primary and primary levels of education. Even though this ratio of enrolment into the education system is good, the state government has introduced new scholarship schemes that could attract more people and facilitate better education to all students. Apart from the state government, more than a dozen private organizations offer a scholarship to the students in Tamil Nadu.

However, in this article, we will discuss the scholarship offered by the Tamil Nadu government under Tamil Nadu (TN) scholarship scheme.

According to the latest records, different parts of the state government of Tamil Nadu offer more than 12 scholarships to the students at different levels. Here is the complete list of scholarship offered and the provider details.

Eligibility criteria 

The Tamil Nadu state government offers 13 different scholarships to students at different levels and classes. However, to avail the scholarship the state government has laid eligibility criteria; here is the eligibility criterion that you need to fulfill, in order to acquire the specific scholarship.

  • The applicant should be a citizen of India.
  • The applicant should be a permanent resident of India.
  • Based on the scholarship you are eligible to apply for, you should be able to submit all the supporting documents when requested.

Here are the eligibility criteria for each scholarship

1 For children’s of differently Abled person The applicant must be able to submit the identity card issued by the Welfare Board of Differently Abled of his/her parent in order to acquire this scholarship.

This scholarship is offered to those students to study from class 11th to postgraduate courses. The courses include ITI, diploma, and polytechnic course.

2 EVR Nagammai Scholarship Only girls are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

The applicant should be pursuing a postgraduate degree course in any recognized college or university in Tamil Nadu..

The Postgraduate course should be in arts and science courses only

3 Incentive Scheme for Rural MBC/DNC Girl Students, Tamil Nadu This scholarship is provided to girls who belong to DNC or MBC category.

The applicant should be studying in any class between third and sixth.

The applicant’s parental income should not be more than INR 25000.

4 Rashtriya Indian Military College (R.I.M.C), Dehradun Scholarship The applicant should be a student of Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun.

·        The applicant should be able to submit a proof that he/she is a resident of Tamil Nadu.

5 Perarignar Anna Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu The applicant should belong to BC or MBC or DNC category

Only two students from each district will be eligible for this scholarship, one boy and a girl. Each of them should have scored the highest mark in class 12th exam

An applicant is eligible for this scholarship only if he/she is planning to pursue an undergraduate course like engineering, medical, or law after 12th class

6 Scholarship for Free Education Schemes for candidates belonging to the category BC, MBC & DNC The applicant should be pursuing a 3 year degree course

An applicant pursuing a professional degree or polytechnic course is eligible for this scholarship

The applicant should belong to BC or MBC or DNC category.

The annual income of the candidate’s family should not be more than INR 50000.

7 Scholarship for purchasing Books and note books, offered to differently Abled student The applicant should be from any class between 1st and 8th.

The applicant should be differently Abled and should be able to submit the proof document.

8 Thanthai Periyar Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu This scholarship is provided to 2 boys and 2 girls who secure the highest mark in class 10th board exam in each district of Tamil Nadu.

The applicant should be planning to peruse polytechnic diploma course,

The applicant should belong to BC or MBC or DNC category.

9 Scholarship for PhD students The applicant should be pursuing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year PhD research in a government or government-aided arts or science college.

The applicant should be pursuing full time PhD course.

The applicant must have scored a minimum of 60% marks in his/her postgraduate degree.

10 National Talent Search Exam NTSE The applicant should be from class 10th to be eligible for this scholarship.

The applicant studying in an open school or pursuing distance learning is eligible for this scholarship.

The applicant should have an age below 18 years.

11 Deceased Government Servants Scholarship, Tamil Nadu The applicant should be a ward of deceased government servants who died while in service.
12 For differently Abled students from class 9th The applicant should have scored a minimum of 40% marks in his/her previous qualifying exam.

The applicant should be differently Abled and should be studying in any class between 9 to 12th or pursuing any diploma, undergraduate, or postgraduate course.

13 Vidyadhan Scholarship Program The applicant’s family should not have an annual income of more than 2 lakhs.

Unlike most of the scholarship offered by the Tamil Nadu state government, an applicant who is a resident of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Karnataka, and Gujarat.

The applicant must have passed class 10th or SSLC from the above-mentioned states in the first attempt itself.

5 Perarignar Anna Memorial Award, Tamil Nadu The applicant will have to visit your district office of Backward Classes and Minority Welfare, get the application form and submit the form after filling in the form; remember to attach all the supporting documents.
6 Scholarship for Free Education Schemes for candidates belonging to the category BC, MBC & DNC This scholarship can be applied only by visiting the nearest district office of Backward Classes and Minority Welfare.
7 Scholarship for purchasing Books and note books, offered to differently Abled student The applicant will have to visit the district Commissionerate for Welfare of Differently Abled, collect the application form and fill in the details attach the required documents as requested on the form and then submit the form.

9 Scholarship for PhD students The applicant will have to visit the Directorate of Collegiate Education, collect the application form, fill in the form and then submit the form with all the appropriate documents.
10 National Talent Search Exam NTSE The applicant should visit the official website of NCERT and download the NTSE application from fill in the form and then submit the form along with the supporting documents to nearest state liaison officer.
11 Deceased Government Servants Scholarship, Tamil Nadu The applicant will have to visit the Directorate of Collegiate Education, collect the application form, fill in the form and then submit the form with all the appropriate documents.
12 For differently Abled students from class 9th The applicant to avail this scholarship should visit the nearest District Office of Differently Abled Welfare, collect the application form, fill in the form, and then submit the form with all the required proof documents.
13 Vidyadhan Scholarship Program Click here https://www.vidyadhan.org/apply and then in the page that appears on the screen click the “Apply Now” button. In the fill-up form that appears on the screen, enter all the details as requested and click the “Register” button. Now, on the next page enter all the details and submit the form after uploading all the documents as requested on the page. Once the application is accepted, you will start receiving updates and communication to your email ID.
